# Link

Links are a fundamental and dynamic input type that helps the user and the platform in managing links

A **Link** input provides seemingly no nuances compared to a [Text String](/template/input-groups/input-types/text-string.md), but it's not what happens in plain sight that's the real power of it, but rather what happens in the background. By adding a Link input type to your field you automatically add the ability to add link tracking and various safety measures validation rules won't be able to.

Works great for:

* CTA's
* Menues
* Link tracking
